Before and After the World Wars

By the time of the World Wars of the Twentieth Century, Gresham was inhabited by people whose parents or grandparents had, for the most part, come from Europe or the Orient. Despite their origins these citizens of the newly settled country showed an intense patriotism to the United States-some fighting against the homeland of their ancestors. 

This history is largely the result of interviewing men and women whose parents were alive in WWI, who were born in or before the Depression, and who participated in WWII-either at home or in the armed services. Many stories follow these people, now in their seventies and eighties, and their children to the present time.
