The ingredients in our Sleep & Dream bath bomb aims to soothe restlessness and reduce troubled sleep, as well as bolster a more vivid dream state. For these reasons, we suggest using this bomb as part of a nighttime 'settle-down' routine.
Powdered Valerian root [Valeriana wallichii] is known to many herbalists as "Nature's Valium," and has been used for centuries (and studied heavily in recent times) for its stress-relieving and sleep-improving qualities (see linked studies below). Paired with lavender essential oil, which promotes relaxation, soothes inflammation and promotes vasodilation, these natural ingredients make effective sleep aids without the drowsiness of typical chemically-derived medications.

The crystal included in this bath bomb is Celestite, a lovely translucent blue cluster with many light-catching edges. Its high vibration helps jumpstart spiritual development by aiding in the analysis of complex ideas (especially in sleep or during meditation), stimulating clairvoyance, dream recall, and lucid dreaming. Paired with the natural sleep improvers above, Celestite can help you make the most of your dream state, so it's an ideal crystal for your night stand, next to your dream journal. Direct sunlight will fade its color over time though, so keep it away from sunny places. Recharge periodically by moonlight.

Other Care Tips:
- we advise cleaning your tub before soaking; a quick rinse after soaking should be enough to remove any specks of valerian left over.
- remove crystal from bath water before draining your tub, and towel-pat dry. All crystals should be large enough to not go down the drain, but don't take the chance!
- soak for at least half an hour, or up to an hour or two, just don't nod off in your bath ;)
- drink plenty of water before and while soaking.
- avoid screens or blue light while soaking; use candle light or low light outside the bath room to help further relaxation.
- we recommend exfoliating or soaping off after finishing your soak; your skin will be its most supple, and dead skin will be easiest to remove. Afterward, towel-pat skin dry instead of rubbing.

Valerian root contains a number of compounds that may promote sleep and reduce anxiety. These include valerenic acid, isovaleric acid and a variety of antioxidants. Valerian has received attention for its interaction with gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a chemical messenger that helps regulate nerve impulses in the brain and nervous system.

Valerenic acid has been found to inhibit the breakdown of GABA in the brain, resulting in feelings of calmness and tranquility. Valerian root also contains the antioxidants hesperidin and linarin, which appear to have sedative and sleep-enhancing properties (link above).

All bath bombs come packaged in biodegradable wood pulp cellophane bags. Decomposition occurs around 90 days with no additional treatment; just remove any glossed stickers and place in your compost bin!
